With video files just the same problem. This may or may not solve your issue But then u saw than one of audio devices was just muted.

No sound at all from Asus A7U Please use apport-collect -p alsa-base So, amixer shows such info: I am fairly certain that the problem arised from some sort of mis-configuration due to pulseaudio being uninstalled and then reinstalled, however there is no way to prove that.
So, i turned them on again and have sound.

Also, when viewing videos and playing music, they play very fast. On Fri, Dec 4, at 2: While using virtualBox – i have sound too and can normally watch films.

My laptop is Asus A7u. I can’t control volume in my system: Email me about changes to this bug report. Now i have sound in Ubuntu,with the exception of playing audio and video, and although audio files play very fast. Comment on this change optional.

I suggest that just something gone wrong with pulseaudio may be,because when i tried to configure sound in my soune i deleted pulseaudio and then re-installed it again. Updating system changed nothing concerning my sound trouble. My friend told me that this happens when we use bad hardware under ubuntu. With video files just the same problem. Compiled on Nov 17 for kernel 2.
Music don’t wanna play. I noticed that video files play faster then it should be.
I updated system and installed hda-verb. What player are you using? Now my sound works fine.
